French
Our specialist teacher in French aims to inspire students to love exploring languages, places, cultures, stories and breadth of belief across the world.
All children have a weekly French lesson and a Modern Foreign Language club is also offered as a lunchtime club.
The scheme of work offers clear progression throughout the Key Stages with regard to their skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing. It is also explicitly diverse and richly packed to inspire pupils to connect with the wider world, its diverse cultures and provide them with memorable learning experiences. In-class learning is interactive, supportive and practical to foster pupils’ interest in language learning in an enjoyable way. The aim is to enable pupils to speak with increasing confidence, fluency and spontaneity, finding ways of communicating what they want to say, including through discussion, asking questions and continually improving the accuracy of their pronunciation and intonation. This curiosity and awareness of language will then facilitate future study of foreign languages as well as a deeper understanding of the world.
