Online Safety Homework

Each year, children are spending more time on devices. While owning and using online technology is widely accepted, this by no means removes the risks associated with these devices. Therefore, this week's homework is all about keeping safe online and helping support children's development of boundaries and a healthy relationship with technology.

Dear parents/carers,

Each year, children are spending more time on devices. While owning and using online technology is widely accepted, this by no means removes the risks associated with these devices. Therefore, this week's homework is all about keeping safe online and helping support children's development of boundaries and a healthy relationship with technology.

Your child should have brought home a letter with a Digital Family Agreement on the back. The letter contains some principles for keeping safe and healthy online which we have been teaching the children these past couple of weeks. As part of this week's homework, we ask you to have a conversation with your children about being safe and healthy online and having a healthy 'Digital Diet'. During this discussion, complete the Digital Family Agreement together (which can be found on the reverse of the letter and linked below). A Digital Family Agreement is great way to start a conversation with your whole family about how you all use the internet and start discussions together around how to behave positively when online.

An example of a completed Digital Family Agreement can be found below

We hope that having open discussions about boundaries and the quality of time spent online will go along way to keeping all our children safe and enable them to use digital devices as enabling effective tools they should be.

Once completed, please return to your child’s class teacher by Friday 20th September. Please do not stick this in your child’s Homework Book.

Best regards
